Bulls-Eye Turkey shot or 
Trap Shoot (5 rounds)

Amateur and expert shooters of all ages and experience levels are welcome to try their hand at the 26th Annual Turkey & Trap Shoot Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. Presented by the DeLand Breakfast Rotary, the family-friendly event will benefit the Police Athletic League (PAL) and other local youth organizations.

The Turkey & Trap Shoot is open to all ages, and parking and admission are free. Shooting tickets are available for three dollars ($3) at the event (cash only), or from a DeLand Breakfast Rotary member (cash or check made payable to DeLand Breakfast Rotary). Ammunition will be provided, and loaner guns and hearing protection will be available. Shotguns only are permitted at the event. Fire line staff will be on duty during the event, and professionals for a Safe Professional Environment will be on staff to guide shooters.

Event highlights:


  • Guests can try their hand at shooting a bullseye turkey target for $3 per shot, with each per-round winner receiving a $12 gift certificate to purchase a turkey.
  • Shooters can sharpen their skills in the Trap Shoot at five rounds for $3.
  • Guests can enter to win two shotguns (12- and 20 -gauge models); drawing to be held at 2 p.m.
  • Children of all ages can participate in the Florida Wildlife Commission’s and the Volusia County 4H Youth Archery Competition at 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Children can participate in the Archery and Turkey Shoot competitions for prizes.
  • The DeLand Rotary Club will provide lunch for $6 per person (cash only). Lunch includes pulled-pork sandwiches, baked beans, chips and a drink. Morning refreshments including coffee, hot chocolate and donuts also will be available.


Additionally, area Boy Scouts can earn activities toward their Shotgun Shooting merit badge at the event, too. Contact your local Boy Scouts troop for details.
